Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer boost as one of their key transfer targets Bruma has expressed a desire to move to the Premier League.
Catio Balde, the agent of the Galatasaray winger, recently spoke to Lucas Sposito of the Sport Witness and stated that he was confident of securing a high-profile move for his client amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
“There are English and German clubs who follow Bruma weekly,” he admitted. “What’s happened is that there hasn’t been an advance until now. Anything can happen in December. He wants to play in the Premier League and he’s sure he’ll be bought.”
Bruma’s contract at Galatasaray expires at the end of the season, and it appears that he will not sign an extension at the club. Thus, the Turkish side may look to profit from the sale of their star player and could allow him to leave in the January transfer window.
Balde also admitted that Galatasary are fighting tooth and nail in order to keep hold of the player and want him to sign an extension within the next few months before things get complicated further.
“It’s true,” he said about the offer table by Bruma’s current employers. “Given the approach from many clubs, Galatasaray want to prevent it and proposed a renewal.”
That being said, signing a player of Bruma’s stature could help Jose Mourinho a great extent given the lack of pace in his side. Due to the poor form of his wingers, the Portuguese has often had to rely on the likes of Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and even Wayne Rooney to play on the flanks.
The trio are more suited to playing centrally and are thus not able to contribute to a greater extent when played out wide. Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Memphis Depay are traditional wingers, but all three have struggled to make a case for a regular starting berth.
Thus, in Bruma, 22, United will be getting a relatively younger option, and one Mourinho has been keeping an eye on for a long time. He is physical, pacey and his excellent in going past the opposition defenders. Also, due to his contract scenario, he could be available on the cheap in January and maybe as a free agent come the summer.
