The Atletico Madrid forward has expressed his desire to play with his international team-mate at club level
Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of supposedly prime target, Antoine Griezmann. The 25-year-old is said to be on the radar of almost every elite European club, but the Frenchman was recently heard admitting about his curiosity for the Manchester based club.
The player, speaking to Sky Germany (h/t ESPN) confessed he keeps pestering international team-mate and Manchester United’s record signing, Paul Pogba with questions about the English juggernaut.
“I always ask Paul Pogba about Manchester United,” said Antoine Griezmann. He added, “I think they are a huge club with a really good infrastructure. I ask Pogba about some of the players, and if they’re really that good, or if Jose Mourinho is really that good.”
The forward then said something which will sound like music to the ears of Manchester United supporters.
“It would be awesome to play alongside Paul Pogba one day (at club level).”
However, the former Real Sociedad man insisted he’s not seeking for a move elsewhere for now and is completely satisfied at Atletico Madrid.
“You hear a lot of things (speculation) about Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain but right now I don’t see me moving to a new club. I’m currently in good shape and want to win some titles with Atlético.”
A source close to Manchester United told ESPN, the top management were very keen to bring Griezmann to Old Trafford in the summer, but all their advances were rejected by Atletico Madrid.
A few days prior, there was also a claim by Mirror, which suggested Manchester United’s cross-town rivals, Manchester City have entered the race for the forward, with the club willing to break the bank and match any offer to get their hands on Griezmann.
Griezmann signed a new extension with Atletico Madrid until 2021 in the summer, but the speculation regarding the forward doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
