The Argentine striker was back on the score-sheet after a run of six games without finding the back of the net, as Manchester City thrashed West Brom.

Manchester City’s win-less streak finally came to an end and in fine fashion as the men in Sky Blue produced an authoritative display away at Hawthorns to remain the Premier League leaders on goal-difference after match-day 10.

Sergio Aguero was the star of the night alongside Ilkay Gundogan, with both scoring a brace and registering an assist. Not surprisingly, manager Pep Guardiola was delighted with the team as well as individual performances of the two players and was seen gushing particularly about the striker in his post-match reactions.

“I love working with nice guys, nice people – and Sergio is one of them. We need him and we know how important he is for us.” said Pep Guardiola

“He is part of the history of this club and will be forever but I would like to help him. He can still write the most brilliant pages in his career in this club. All of us are there to help him.”

On being asked if the Argentine is among the best players the Catalan has managed, Pep nodded in approval, stating “He’s one of the best, yeah, absolutely.”

The City boss then added one of the his goals at the club is to develop Aguero into an even better player, stating, “I want to help him become much, much better. That is my target.”

Sergio Aguero has now scored 13 goals in 13 matches this season and is joint top scorer in the Premier League alongside Diego Costa with 7 goals.

With Manchester City hosting Barcelona next Tuesday, Pep confirmed ‘Kun’ will be starting the game, but added, in jest, he won’t reveal at what position he will play.

The striker was dropped by the manager when Manchester City visited the Camp Nou stadium which sparked rumors of tensions between Pep and Aguero but today’s comments should more or less end the speculations of rift between them.
