Manchester United have reportedly secured the signature of 16-year-old Ajax prodigy Millen Baars on a free transfer.
Daily Mail have reported that Manchester United have snapped up Ajax prodigy Millen Baars on a free transfer. The 16-year-old is due to join the United setup come January and is likely to be sent straight into the U-18 setup at the club. There are reports that Baars and his family have already started looking for a home in and around Manchester.
Millen Baars is an exciting product from the Ajax academy and is highly regarded as one of the best emerging prospects in the Netherlands. The player is known for his versatility, pace and agility and is two-footed, which is an added bonus. Baars plays predominantly as a right winger but is equally capable of playing on the other side of the wing, as an attacking midfielder as well as a centre forward.
Baars follows fellow Ajax product Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Manchester. The youngster had made the move from the Dutch giants to Carrington back in 2014 and has quickly established himself as a part of the first-team setup at Manchester United signing a fresh contract extension a few days ago.

Millen has captained Ajax’s youth side in the past and was due to captain the Dutch giants’ B1 side this season but had a falling out with the coaching staff at the club and decided to leave the club. The player has now been snapped up by the red half of Manchester and the attacker would be keen to continue his growth into the end product he has been tipped to become.
The player would hope to have the same impact in Kieran McKenna’s side as his compatriot Tahith Chong has had after his move from Netherlands. Baars, like every other United academy ace, is likely to have his eyes set on breaking into the senior squad and a brilliant debut season could see his stocks rise within the United fold.
However, as it stands, the player is set to feature for the U-18 side alongside other prominent young academy figures all tipped for big things in the future like Indy Boonen, Tahith Chong, Nishan Burkart, Joshua Bohui and Angel Gomes.
Whether Millen Baars or any of the aforementioned stars rise up the ranks like a certain Marcus Rashford has done in recent months, is a story only time will tell. However up until then, United will continue their investment in young prospects in a bid to secure the club’s future in safe hands.
