The captain faces an uncertain future with the club, reports esteemed English newspaper publication
While dropping Sergio Aguero from the lineup formed much part of all the pre-match discussion, there was another player who was facing an uneven prospect for his career at the club; captain and leader, Vincent Kompany.
It’s now been revealed that the Belgian defender wasn’t included in the playing squad despite being declared fit for the clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou.
Vincent Kompany last few years with the club have been largely forgettable due to the numerous injuries he has sustained – mostly muscle related. However, the defender always kept his spirit going and returned after slogging it out behind the scenes, only to be greeted by another setback on his return.
Vincent Kompany started his first game of the season agaisnt Swansea City in the EFL cup after being sidelined for almost 4 months with groin injury. In the 90th min of the game, Vincent Kompany ran straight down the tunnel without intimating the manager. Another injury for the captain, this time a groin strain.
The script of Kompany getting injured, regaining fitness and then suffering a setback on return wasn’t the first occurrence. Incredibly, this script has already been repeated for over four times.
Naturally, manager Pep Guardiola is growing frustrated with the defender, even issuing a strong warning to Kompany with regards to his fitness.
It does seem Pep’s patience is now running out after ignoring the defender from even a spot at the bench on last Wednesday
The manager isn’t averse to taking tough decisions, having already shifted out the incompatible Joe Hart as well freezing Yaya Toure from the team. With Stones and Otamedni forming a good partnership and Leonardo Bonucci reported to be a prime target, Kompany will have prove his fitness quickly in a decisive season for the captain.
