Chelsea target Marcelo Brozovic is set to be retained by the Nerazzurri after his agent confirmed that his client turned down the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge.
It was speculated for weeks that the Blues were closing in on a move for the Croatian midfielder, and it was fueled on by rumours of Chelsea offloading Cesc Fabregas. Reports had emerged of Chelsea representatives travelling to Milan to negotiate a deal with Inter Milan for the midfielder.
Speaking to Goal.com, Brozovic’s agent Miralem Bicanic has ended all speculation by saying that his client will be staying put at the San Siro. He said, “Yes, it is official Brozo will stay in Inter, otherwise, he would have been on the plane to London and not with national team in Sisak.” He went on to say “After he returns from Croatia, Marcelo will sign a new, improved contract with Inter.”
Earlier in the season it was reported that the Nerazzurri were looking to offload some players due to FFP restrictions. Frank De Boer’s side brought in Gabriel Barbosa, Joao Mario and Antonio Candreva for big sums of money.
Despite having a bid from Chelsea accepted by his club, Brozovic will not be leaving, instead will stay and fight for his place in the team despite being offered a lucrative offer from the London side, where he would have earned much higher than his current wage structure.
