Newcastle’s want-away midfielder Moussa Sissoko is reportedly close to agreeing a move to Inter Milan.
France Football have reported on Sunday that Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko is close to agreeing personal terms with Inter Milan. The report has added that Frank De Boer’s current employers are working hard to negotiate a deal for the French international and that Sissoko is happy with the wages being offered by the Nerazzurri.
But the report added that while the player is close to agreeing personal terms with the club, Inter Milan are yet to lodge an official bid with Newcastle. Inter are prepared to offer €35m while Newcastle have reiterated time and again that the interested clubs would have to bid in the region of €40m to get their offer accepted by the Magpies.
Moussa Sissoko has attracted attention from a host of top European clubs, including Premier League sides, with his performance for hosts France at Euro 2016. The midfielder was mainly linked with serious moves to Liverpool and Real Madrid with reported interest from other clubs – Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Real Madrid were reported to be in pole position and were even reported to have tabled a bid with Newcastle for the 26-year-old. But the rumours have since taken a back-seat with Los Blancos now linked with another Euro 2016 star in Sporting midfielder Joao Mario.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Moussa Sissoko, with the French midfielder even admitting that he prefers a move to the Merseyside club. But the Reds signed his teammate from Newcastle, Georginio Wijnaldum. However, they still reportedly retain interest and could follow up with a bid before the market closes.
Inter Milan need a midfielder and Frank De Boer sees the French star as an ideal target for the Nerazzurri as he attempts to rebuild the club’s lost sheen. The Italian club would love to wrap up a deal for Sissoko quickly before Real Madrid, Liverpool or any of the other interested parties table an offer worth considering for Newcastle.
