Transfer News: Crystal Palace eye Liverpool and Real Madrid target Moussa Sissoko

Crystal Palace are reportedly set to splash the cash on Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko with the money received from the sale of Yannick Bolasie.

The Guardian have reported that Crystal Palace are eyeing a move for want-away Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, with Alan Pardew desperate to add to the squad after the departure of Mile Jedinak. With the recent transfer of Yannick Bolasie to Everton, the former Newcastle manager is keen for a reunion with the Frenchman. The report adds that Pardew has made it clear to the club’s chairman, Steve Parish, that like-for-like replacements are needed for Jedinak and Bolasie.

The 26-year-old appeared six times in Euro 2016 for the hosts and attracted interest from a number of top clubs. Moussa Sissoko was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer. But the links then seemed to take the back-seat with Klopp signing his teammate Wijnaldum from Newcastle. Sissoko was then reported to be on his way to Real Madrid after Los Blancos faced defeat in their pursuit of Paul Pogba and Andre Gomes. Real were rumoured to be in pole position for the Newcastle midfielder but have since shifted their interest to Joao Mario.

Sissoko earlier admitted that he needs to play football at the highest level to continue his progress and retain his place in the French national squad. Pardew is reported to be ready to offer the Frenchman the opportunity of doing the same. The move could be beneficial for both sides. Crystal Palace would be able to get a player that has previous experience of playing under their current manager and would hopefully slot right into the first-team without much trouble. Sissoko will be able to pit his wits against the best of the midfielders plying their trade in the English Premier League.

It doesn’t look like there are any other clubs who are likely to table a real offer to Newcastle for Sissoko other than Real Madrid at the moment, who themselves are looking at other options. Crystal Palace and Alan Pardew would hope to swoop in quickly and seal a deal for the player before Real Madrid come in with a bid, or any of the previous interested clubs – Dortmund, Juventus and Liverpool – rekindle their interest in the Frenchman.
