Transfer News: Liverpool target Mahmoud Dahoud set to remain at Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud’s agent has insisted that the player will not leave the club this summer despite strong links to Liverpool.

The Guardian have reported that midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is set to refute approaches from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain and stay at Monchengladbach. The newspaper outlet talked to the Syrian youngster’s agent, Reza Fazeli, on Wednesday who revealed that the player has agreed to stay with the club for another season at the very least.

Fazeli said,“It is certain Mahmoud will stay with Gladbach for now. We have an agreement with Gladbach and everything has been postponed for next season.”

The 20-year-old’s agent also revealed that there were many clubs interested in the player. “There has been a lot of interest in him, not just from Liverpool,” Reza told Guardian.

Mahmoud Dahoud rose to prominence last season for Borussia Monchengladbach, appearing in 32 of the 34 Bundesliga matches for the club. The 20-year-old scored 5 goals while also accruing 8 assists to his name, boasting an average rating of 7.13 over the last season (stats via whoscored). The youngster’s performances have attracted interest from Liverpool, who looked to Dahoud as an alternative to Zielinski.

Gladbach, though, are unlikely to want to sell the player. The club has already seen their midfield leader Granit Xhaka leave for Premier League club Arsenal earlier in the window. Having qualified for the Champions League, they would hope to hold on to the young starlet, who has been a rock in the centre of the park for the club.

Dahoud’s agent also refuted reports of the player being available for a cut-price fee of £8.5m at the end of next season, stating that there was no such agreement in place between the player and Gladbach and that it is up to the club to decide the acceptable fee for a transfer.

Mahmoud Dahoud looks set for another season in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach as it looks like Liverpool is going to miss out on the Syrian youngster.
