Paris St. Germain have reportedly agreed €25 million fee with Real Madrid for striker Jese Rodriguez.

After ongoing speculation about Real Madrid striker Jese Rodriguez’s future, French giants Paris St. Germain appear all set to sign the highly-rated Spanish striker for €25 million. In other Madrid related news, youngster Marco Asensio has been backed by his former coach to challenge for a first-team spot.

PSG reach agreement with Real for Jese Rodriguez

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Ligue 1 giants PSG are all set to sign Real Madrid’s 23-year-old attacker Jese Rodriguez, with both teams believed to have reached an agreement over the weekend.

Rodriguez made a total of 63 appearances for Real Madrid and grabbed 15 goals in his five-year spell at the Bernabeu. The Spanish attacker also impressed with the ‘B’ team, scoring 32 goals in 80 matches. In the 2015/16 La Liga campaign, he was only handed 7 starts by managers Rafa Benitez and Zinedine Zidane. The rest of his 21 appearances came off the bench.

A move to the Parc des Princes would probably be in the best interests of the player. Given the quality the Madrid attack possesses in the form of out-and-out strikers in Karim Benzema, Lucas Vazquez and now Alvaro Morata, it’s unlikely Jese would get more game time.

Instead, he could make a move to France where he has a better chance of getting regular playing minutes and take his game to the next level. Also, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure and uncertainty about Edinson Cavani’s future at PSG, Jese’s signing would certainly be a boon for manager Unai Emery. Bringing in a striker of Jese’s calibre guarantees goals, and that is exactly what the new PSG boss would need at the club.

Marco Asensio’s former head-coach has backed him to succeed at Madrid

Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio has put in a couple of breathtaking performances on the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, giving Zidane a selection dilemma. Earlier, it seemed that the player was on the verge of an exit, but he has shown tremendous promise off late and looks set to be part of the Frenchman’s first-team plans at the club.

According to ESPN, Asensio’s former coach Jose Luis Oltra believes that he is ready to fight for his place in the club’s first team squad for the upcoming La Liga campaign. In an interview with Marca, Oltra said: “Madrid have so many big names. In the squad for sure he has a place, on the pitch it depends on circumstances and the work he puts in. I believe everything is happening in a hurry, but for me he has a place in the 23.”

Asensio also earned a lot of praise from the recently retired Spanish national coach Vincente del Bosque, who referred to the young striker as the ‘most promising Spanish talent.’

Given the injuries and unavailability of certain key players in the Real Madrid side, the 20-year-old might be named in the playing XI when the Los Blancos take on Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup on the 9th of August.
