French midfielder Blaise Matuidi has gone on record to state that he is open to leaving Paris Saint Germain this summer.

According to a report in French daily Le Parisien (h/t 101 Great Goals), PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi is eyeing an exit from the Parc des Princes this summer, with the Premier League being his preferred destination. English giants Manchester United have been in the market for the French international for quite a while, but are still to table a formal bid for the midfielder.

Manchester United were understood to be having talks with Matuidi ever since the start of Euro 2016. Jose Mourinho is known to be a fan of the 29-year-old, and should primary target Paul Pogba not make the switch to Old Trafford this summer, it is very likely that the Portuguese manager would make an offer for Blaise Matuidi.

In an interview, the PSG player has stated:

“I am in Paris, but it is not of what tomorrow will bring. We do not know know what can happen.”

When manager Unai Emery was questioned about the possibility of the French midfielder departing, he said that there are chances of the club letting him go.

“There are a lot of midfielders and we could, at some point, find ourselves in a situation where the player [Matuidi] could leave. But he’s a fantastic player and he belongs to PSG.

“Logically, I will not go without great players. As a coach, I’m behind him and I await his return to the team. Circumstances could change that, but in principle this is not what I want,” the PSG coach told Le Parisien.

The next few days hold key for Manchester United as well as Matuidi. Pogba, who has reportedly agreed a world-record fee to join the Red Devils, could complete his move to Old Trafford shortly. However, if those reports are proven to be untrue, and the 22-year-old continues at the Old Lady, Mourinho may well invest in the PSG midfielder. Matuidi too would not come cheap as he would demand a salary of (if not more than) €200,000 per week, which he is understood to be earning in France.
