Barcelona winger in talks with Tottenham; Spurs announce Janssen signing

Barcelona winger Cristian Tello is on his way out of the Nou Camp. The player’s agent has reportedly flown to London to hold talks with Tottenham.

The 24-year old winger failed to make his mark on the first team at Barcelona and is reportedly on his way out in search of regular first team football. The La Masia graduate has had his fair share of chances in the first team, racking up 59 La Liga appearances with 11 goals to show for his efforts. But the appearances span over the last 5 years which included two years on loan at Porto and Fiorentina.

The talented winger is now on the move in search of regular first team action, according to reports from Calciomercato. The report states that Tello’s loan move to Fiorentina was close to becoming a permanent transfer at the end of the season after he impressed the club’s hierarchy with a return of two goals and five assists in 15 appearances for the club. The fee being reported was close to €7m, but The Viola failed to make the transfer permanent.

According to the report, Tottenham have now come to the fore as a possible future destination with the player’s agent, Joseph Maria Orotbig, flying out to London to negotiate a deal with the Londoners. The winger has found it difficult to hold his own at Barcelona due to the success of the trio of Suarez, Neymar and Messi. The 24-year old has spent the last two years out on loan in Portugal and Italy and would be hoping to secure a transfer this summer.

There was talk of Premier League club Swansea being interested in signing the wantaway winger. The report also stated that the likes of Southampton and Fiorentina were also vying for the 24-year old’s signature. There seems to be no movement on those fronts right now with Tottenham the only club with real interest in the La Masia product.

Tottenham need to consolidate their squad as they look to compete both domestically and in the Champions League. Tello has experience of European football and would be a worthy addition to the young core of the Spurs’ setup.

Tottenham have finally confirmed the capture of AZ striker Vincent Janssen on a permanent basis.

The Londoners had been linked with a move for AZ striker Vincent Janssen throughout the summer and have finally confirmed the transfer through their official website. The announcement revealed that the striker has signed a contract keeping him in London till 2020 but that the move is subject to international clearance.

The fee was not disclosed in the official announcement but it is believed that Tottenham have shelved out close to €22m for the forward, as per reports from Daily Star.

Vincent Janssen is widely regarded as a breakout star after becoming the top goalscorer in his debut season in Eredivisie. The forward has been prolific throughout his career as he set the second tier of Dutch football ablaze with his first club, Almere City. The 22-year old went on to score 32 goals in 74 appearances during his two-year spell with the club.

Tottenham fans will be hoping the Dutch forward carries his Eredvisie form to The White Hart Lane.

AZ came knocking and he moved to the Eredivisie club for a paltry sum of €500,000. The natural goalscorer topped the Eredivisie charts in his debut season helping his club finish fourth. He was also handed the 2016 Johan Cruyff Trophy, an award given to the Young Player of the Year. The Trophy has been previously won by Tottenham players Rafael Van Der Vaart and Christian Eriksen.

The 22-year old has been troubling defences internationally too and has 3 goals to his credit in just 5 appearances for the Oranje. Tottenham wanted the Dutch forward to challenge and partner England sensation Harry Kane but there were other Premier League clubs in the race to sign Janssen.

West Ham were linked with a €20m bid for the youngster while Arsenal and Leicester were also reportedly interested in the striker. The forward has earlier expressed his desire to take the next step in his career and it seems he has chosen Tottenham to be a part of his footballing journey.
