Man United Transfer News – Bayern Munich enter the race to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to snare Paris St. Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic away from the grasp of Manchester United amidst interest from Real Madrid towards their star striker, Robert Lewandowski.

Manchester United fans have waited, with bated breath, over Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s possible arrival at Old Trafford with the Swedish heart-throb having repeatedly expressed his desire to work with Jose Mourinho. The 34-year-old who left PSG after a four-year spell at the French capital, is expected to announce his next move after returning from the Euros with Sweden.

With the striker constantly keeping the media guessing over his next move, The Mirror now claims that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have entered the fray to sign Ibrahimovic as a potential replacement should Robert Lewandowski make the switch to Real Madrid.

Manchester United definitely have no monetary constraints in competing with the Bavarians’ offer for the Swedish forward, however Bayern do have Champions’ League football on offer, the one major trophy honour missing from Zlatan’s illustrious trophy cabinet. United on the other hand will be competing in the Europa League which is not as fancy an incentive for the PSG striker. Bayern, like United, are prepared to match the Swede’s £200,000/week wage demands along with a hefty signing bonus in-order to snatch him away from the grasp of the 20-time Premier League winners.

Which move would suit Zlatan more?

From Ibrahimovic’s perspective, the move he’d prefer can be decided by breaking down the pros and cons of a transfer to either of the clubs. The Swede who is approaching the twilight of a glittering footballing career could probably be making his last high-profile transfer this time around. Zlatan hasn’t represented any club from the German or English leagues so far and with both clubs offering the possibility of new additions to his trophy cabinet a move either ways is unchartered territory.

However, the Swede may just be forced to consider the interest of Bayern Munich owing to their Champions’ League presence and the realistic prospects of them lifting it next season. Meanwhile Manchester United only fulfill Ibrahimovic’s long cherished desire of working with Jose Mourinho. United may yet make it to the Champions’ League in the 2017-18 campaign, however it’ll take a great amount of re-building for Mourinho to take the Manchester club to that level. And there is no guarantee Ibrahimovic will stick around till then at Old Trafford with rumours claiming he’ll only agree a one-year deal.

Therefore, it’s a matter of priority for the Swede, who will be expected to make public his next move upon the completion of his side’s journey in the European Championships in France. However despite all the interest, it seems unlikely the Swede will turn his sights away from a Manchester United move with whom he has reportedly agreed terms with only a medical pending to make matters official.
