Real Madrid in talks with Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, claims agent

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski could be on his way out of the Bavarian club after his agent confirmed he held talks with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Lewandowski has had one of the best seasons in his career, scoring 30 goals to take the golden boot award in the Bundesliga. His efforts have helped Bayern Munich win a fourth successive Bundesliga title as well.

With Pep Guardiola gone, the Bavarian club seems to have been thrown under a shroud of uncertainty, with a number of players reportedly ready to join the exodus, despite the fact that former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to join Bayern Munich as their new manager.

Lewandowski had previously indicated that he would like to play in the La Liga or the Premier League one day. His agent Cezary Kucharski seems to have reiterated this, by confirming that the player has held talks with Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid contacted us a few weeks ago, we listened to everything they said. It’s a big and exciting club. We have informed FC Bayern that we’ve held talks with Madrid,” Kucharski was quoted as saying in German magazine Spiegel [via Goal.com].

Lewandowski’s current contract keeps him at the club for another three years, but Kucharski said that that is not something that will stop the Poland international from making a move, if the right offer comes along.

“Contracts are not a holy relic in football. You can like this attitude or not but it’s the truth. Sometimes you have to think about if it is meaningful to try out a new impulse,” said Kucharski.

Is Karim Benzema on his way out?

Karim Benzema’s future has been subject to a lot of speculation over the last few months. Especially after the Frenchman has been embroiled in a sex-tape controversy with fellow national team player Mathieu Valbuena. To add to that, a number of clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG are said to be interested in signing the Real Madrid star.

Los Blancos have been linked with a number of strikers, and Lewandowski’s agent’s confirmation might be an indication that Zinedine Zidane is looking for a replacement for Benzema.
