Rashford could still find his way into the Euro 2016 squad, with Roy Hodgson left with a selection headache.
The latest injury and the arrival of Marcus Rashford on the international stage has started an interesting debate among England fans and coaching staff as to whether taking Sturridge to the Euros would be a risky decision due to the frequency of his injuries. The solution it seems to many, possibly including even Roy Hodgson, is to take both Sturridge and Rashford to the Euros.
Marcus Rashford has made a habit of stealing the headlines recently. This young teenage sensation from Manchester has set the country ablaze with his calmness, clinical ability and an eye for goal. The 18-year-old didn’t take long to mark his first goal, when in only 135 seconds Rashford struck a ball on the volley from inside the box, past the Australian goalkeeper.
England, though, made heavy work of an otherwise weak looking Australian side. A nervous Three Lions unit held on for a 2-1 win which saw both Manchester United strikers Rashford and Rooney score in each half to help England continue on its positive run before the beginning of the European Championship in France.
However, Rashford was only able to make his England debut thanks to yet another injury for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge. The youngster was initially named in the list of provisional players for England and would be called in the squad only in case some striker gets injured. Now it remains to be seen the extent of the injury to Sturridge as he is expected to return to light training.
Marcus Rashford is all in
Rashford has scored a goal from his first shot in the Premier League, Europa League and now for England. Surely this cannot be a stat for a kid whose biggest worry pretty recently was how will he clear his Chemistry exam. He has also, inevitably, drawn comparisons with the likes of former teen sensations Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.
Many have regarded the current England squad as the best in quite some time with regards to attacking options. Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Marcus Rashford all find themselves heading into Euro 2016 with plenty of goals and confidence under their belt.
