Louis van Gaal has been relieved of his duties as Manchester United manager less than 48 hours after winning the FA Cup with the Red Devils. Twitter could not contain its joy as the long suffering fans of Manchester United were finally granted their wish.
The worst kept secret of the New Year is finally out: Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been sacked by the club after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League. This season, the Red Devils couldn’t manage to challenge for the Premier League, crashed out of the Champions League and were knocked out of the Europa League by arch rivals Liverpool.

I think the best thing LVG has done since joining United is leaving.

“@bobbyjascoly: I heard Manutd will pay LVG £5M, this is wrong, LVG should be the one paying Manutd”

Initially I felt sorry for #LVG but now finding out he’s pocketing £5.4mill as a golden handshake…erm ye see ya Louis!

In a way I feel sorry for LVG… but the last few months have been abysmal. Playing players out of position and playing negative football…

The Iron Tulip will leave Manchester United fans with a lot of memories though. His tenure may not have been very successful, but he was among the most humorous — often inadvertently so — managers we’ve seen in the Premier League for a long time.
His dive in front of the match official, requesting players to be more horny, accusations of ‘sex masochism’ — all of these memories will form an enduring legacy for the Dutchman.
On a more professional front, he has won United the FA Cup and nurtured a crop of youngsters who could end up being the future of the club. Perhaps one day in the future we can look back at his tenure at Old Trafford and it will not look like the underachieving, poor, boring and saddening couple of years that it looks like at present.
Farewell, LVG. Thanks for buying Anthony Martial, stumbling on Marcus Rashford, pretending to fall over that time and having a funny voice.

I will thank LVG for laughs, Martial, Rashford, Smalling, DDG, Blind, mince pies, sexual hair pulling and dramatic falling. Thank you.

Disgusting to see what some ‘fans’ are saying about #LVG. Right time for change but dont slate him. Thank him for youth brought in+FA Cup.

We’ll never forget that drunk speech, him falling to the ground, him singing “LvG’s red army” and him winning The FA Cup. #ThanksLouis

Much respect to Louis van Gaal for leaving the club in a better state than he found it. Will miss your bashing of the media.

There has not been an official confirmation of the next manager, but there is little doubt of his identity.
England legend Gary Lineker expressed faux surprise at the day’s events, while also mentioning the next manager of Manchester United.
Crikey! Manchester United have sacked Louis Van Gaal. Who saw that coming? Next thing you know they’ll appoint José Mourinho.
