Barcelona clinched their 24th La Liga title on Saturday after striker Luis Suarez fired them to a 3-0 win at Granada by scoring a hat-trick.
While the Catalans have now successfully defended their La Liga title, their performance this season was much less convincing than last year.
That is understandable given the fact they had a number of extra matches to play, and the players looked exhausted at one point of the season, when they threw away a nine point lead. However, the Catalans made it through in the end, maintaining their one point lead over Real Madrid, as the fans poured out onto the streets of Barcelona to celebrate.

Early on in the game it looked as if Real Madrid might be running away with the title, as Cristiano Ronaldo put the Los Blancos ahead on the seventh minute of the match against Deportivo La Coruna. However, Suarez restored Barcelona’s lead on the points table on the 22nd minute, later going on to score two more as Barca clinched the title. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter.

La Liga a tough nut to crack, says Enrique
The La Liga was the closest affair among all the top European leagues this season. The Ligue 1, Serie A, Bundesliga and the Premier League titles were all decided well ahead of the last game of the season. However, the La Liga remained close, with just one point separating the champions from the runners-up.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique emphasised how difficult it is to win the La Liga, saying that “it is the competition which shows the real state of a team”. [via Barcelona’s official website]
However, Enrique congratulated his side on winning the title after a late season blip saw them throw away their nine point lead. He said, “It was a deserved title which shows that the team knows how to bounce back from a bad spell.”
