Chelsea FC roundup: Conte already in disagreement with club bosses, Fabregas turned down big-money move to China

Antonio Conte is reportedly already having disagreements with the top bosses at Chelsea FC, even before he takes over as the manager of the club.

Conte, who is currently the head coach of the Italian national side, is set to take over as the manager of Chelsea after the end of Euro 2016. The Italian had reportedly signed a deal in which he would be allowed to bring his own backroom staff to the club.

Chelsea have agreed to the signing of Angelo Alessio (assistant coach), Paolo Bertelli (fitness coach), Julio Tous (strength and conditioning specialist), and Conte’s brother Gianluca (tactical analyst). However, the Blues have denied Conte three other backroom signings, according to a report in One World Sports.

The Italian reportedly wanted to include Massimo Carrera and Mauro Sandreani as his training ground coaches, and had also asked Chelsea to replace current goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon. However, the club have denied his requests, saying that Lollichon will stay on as the goalkeeper coach while Steve Holland and Eddie Newton will also be retained in the backroom staff.

Courtois on his way out?

Keeping Lollichon on as the goalkeeper coach might have further repercussions in the transfer market for Chelsea. Their no.1 goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has reportedly fallen out with Lollichon over his unusual training methods and is said to have told Conte that he does not want to train under the Frenchman anymore.

Not wanting to let a top class goalkeeper leave, Conte had reportedly promised Courtois that he will try to resolve the problem.

However, the issue itself is deeper than it actually seems. Former manager Jose Mourinho was also not too fond of Lollichon, and had apparently asked for the Frenchman to be removed from Chelsea’s backroom staff. According to reports, Mourinho thought that Lollichon was leaking dressing room information over to the top brass of the club.

Lollichon, who has been the goalkeeper coach at the club since 2007, has seen eight managerial changes at Chelsea during his time at the club. If Chlesea do keep him on, we may well be seeing the last days of Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.

Fabregas turned down bumper offer in January

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has not had the best of seasons, and was offered a lucrative way out by Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning. The Spaniard was offered a contract worth around £200,000 a week after taxes, according to The Sun.

However, Fabregas turned down the offer to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place in the starting lineup under incoming manager Antonio Conte.

Jiangsu had also signed former Chelsea midfielder Ramires in the winter transfer window and are reportedly looking to make more high profile signings in the summer.
