Manchester United teenager Rashford reminds legendary Ronaldo of himself

Legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo insists that Manchester United’s teenage sensation Marcus Rashford “has an amazing future” ahead of him.

Rashford burst onto the scene at Manchester United’s UEFA Europa League tie against FC Midtjylland, scoring twice in a 5-1 win. His goal would make him United’s youngest ever goal scorer in European competition, taking the honour from George Best.

He would later announce himself to the Premier League in grand fashion, with a brace against Arsenal three days later, making him United’s third youngest goal scorer in Premier League history. The latest star to come out of United’s fabled youth academy has been subject to high praise for his match winning exploits this season and according to ESPN, they haven’t gone unnoticed by El Phenomeno.

Ronaldo insists that the young Rashford has an amazing future of ahead of him. “He’s a very good young player,” he said. “I see some of myself in him for sure — he has courage and he’s fast and is very good with the ball.” High praise coming from a man who remains one of the best dribblers of the football history has ever seen.

Rashford has scored 7 goals in 15 appearances in his fledgling Manchester United career, notably his brace against Arsenal and the match-winning goal in the Manchester derby at the home of cross town rivals Manchester City. The goal helped United secure their first win away to City since 2013. His hunger for goals is something Ronaldo singled out praise for, saying “I think for the strikers they have to be hungry to score and I see that with him. He has an amazing future.”

Hall of Fame of Italian Soccer

Ronaldo, who has played for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan and PSV, went on to amass more than 350 career goals and two World Cups for Brazil in the process. While Rashford has only begun his career at Manchester United earlier this year, to earn such lavish praise from the former Brazilian striker is no small feat. Great things are expected from Rashford in the future and he has wasted no time in showing that he can be trusted to deliver the goals as and when called upon.
