Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri praised the exceptional performance of goalkeeper “Gigi” Buffon as his side came away with a crucial 2-1 away win at Milan to maintain their lead at the top of Serie A.
Buffon made a string scintillating saves in both halves to deny AC Milan their first win in 6 league matches. An 18th minute goal from Alex gave Milan the lead before Mario Mandzukic struck 9 minutes later to level things up at the San Siro. Paul Pogba scored the winner midway through the second half after chesting down a Claudio Marchisio corner and volleying it into the back of the net.
Allegri praises Buffon heroics
Speaking to the media after his side’s narrow win over Milan on Saturday night, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri heaped enormous praise on the guarding the goal.
“I must compliment Milan for interpreting the game in the best way and were unlucky to find a great Buffon blocking their path,” said Allegri.
“I also compliment my own players, as we took a step forward. As time wore on we kept the ball better and didn’t run any more risks. We had planned to play off the shoulders of their centre-backs, something that went considerably better after the break.
“We could’ve played better in some moments. It was a difficult match, because it is never easy to win at San Siro. Milan have good players and it was important we not slow down our progress.”
Allegri, who was seen chatting to AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani after the match, also went complimented his former side. “I complimented Galliani and said they have the possibility, as do we, of winning the Coppa Italia and qualifying for the Europa League.”
“It’s not easy when you have to build a new squad, but I think Milan have the opportunity to soon be fighting for the top three places again. I had three and a half wonderful years at Milan and retain an excellent rapport with the President and Galliani.”

Title as good as won for Juventus after impressive win over Milan
The Bianconeri’s impressive 2-1 win against 6th place AC Milan at the San Siro has helped them stretch their lead at the top of Serie A to 9 points. Napoli have a tough task of catching up to Juventus with just 6 matches left to play in the season.
The Partenopei’s hopes of catching Juventus were severely dented after their star Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain was given a 4 match ban during Napoli’s 3-1 defeat to Udinese. However, with Juventus in such imperious form at the moment, the thought of the Serie A title heading to Naples would have been nearly impossible.
