Tottenham Hotspur will be missing one of their best players this season as Dele Alli remains unavailable for their Europa League Round of 16 match against Borussia Dortmund.
Mauricio Pochettino will have to tinker with his starting lineup up front, as Spurs gear up to face German giants Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Thursday. Midfielder Dele Alli will be unavailable due to suspension, and is most likely to be replaced by Heung-Min Son in the starting eleven.
This means that Son will play on the right wing, while Christian Eriksen takes on the number 10 role. Erik Lamela will start on the left wing. The trio will be looking to link up with lone striker Harry Kane.
Eric Dier and Ryan Mason will man central midfield, as Mousa Dembele is rested after his exertions against Arsenal. The heart of the Spurs defence will remain the same as their last game, with centre-backs Kevin Wimmer and Toby Alderweireld protecting Hugo Lloris in goal. Their full-back rotation policy means that Keiran Trippier and Ben Davies are likely to get the nod ahead of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.
Borussia Dortmund have a major change in the goalkeeping position, with Roman Weidenfeller replacing Roman Burki who has been in an impressive form. Apart from that, Der Schwarzgelben will field a similar side to the one that started against Bayern Munich over the weekend. The focus will be on the attacking trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marco Reus to pry open the Spurs defence.
Shinji Kagawa, Ilkay Gundogan and Sven Bender will take control of the midfield, ahead of the back four comprising Marcel Schmelzer, Mats Hummels, Neven Subotic and Lukasz Piszczek.
Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has returned to training with the Dortmund side, but will not be fit enough to play a part in their match against Tottenham.
