Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says Foxes are ready to fight Tottenham and Manchester City for Premier League title

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has finally admitted that the Foxes are in the hunt for the title, after weeks of playing down their title ambitions. Following the 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium against West Bromwich Albion, Ranieri stated that his club were ready to battle it out with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Leicester City missed out on the chance to gain a five-point lead over Tottenham, as a second goal by West Brom denied them all three points at the King Power Stadium.

Despite the setback, manager Claudio Ranieri maintained that four points from their last two games was commendable, and that they couldn’t expect a win in every game. The former Chelsea manager was pleased by the performance delivered by his players and said they were ready to take the fight to the finish.

“There are Tottenham and Manchester City in the race to fight for the title and there is little Leicester to fight against them,” said Ranieri, according to BBC.

“We are confident. Why not win it? Be positive.”

Leicester can take the title if they repeat their end-of-season heroics from last year

Leicester City were in a bad state last year, at the bottom of the table with just 19 points after 28 games. However, they managed to put together a run of seven wins and a draw in their last eight matches to finish at a respectable 14th position with a points tally of 41.

This season, they have lost just three of their 28 games and have already surpassed their total points tally of last season by 16 points. If they can manage a similar run of results in their last ten games, they will finish the season with approximately 78 points. This would be their highest points tally in history and could be enough to crown them champions.

Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to end the Foxes six-week reign at the top of the table if they can beat West Ham United on Wednesday.
