The League Cup draws to a conclusion on Sunday as Liverpool take on Manchester City in the finals. The match will see the Ivorian brothers Kolo and Yaya Toure come face to face, and the former has said that he isn’t going to hold himself back.
Football has had its fair share of brother duos, and the Toure brothers are definitely considered one of the best. Kolo Toure will be facing off against his brother Yaya, as Liverpool prepare to take on Manchester City in the League Cup final. Ahead of the match, Kolo has made it clear that brotherly love will not play a part in the upcoming fixture.
“[I would] take him out, big time,” Kolo said, in an interview with BBC. “Because I want to win, that’s it.
“I think he knows me. He knows that if he’s going to score a goal, anything I can do to stop him – I will. And he knows that.”
Sibling rivalry
Kolo Toure could end up having the upper hand over his younger brother Yaya in the League Cup final. The 34-year-old Liverpool defender recently celebrated scoring a goal after five years, his first ever for the club, and has become a fixture in the Reds’ defence because of injuries to key players.
The Toure brothers are among the most accomplished siblings in professional football. Kolo has won two league titles, with Arsenal and Manchester City, the same number as his brother Yaya. However, Yaya has won two La Liga titles and a Champions League medal as well.
The Toure brothers did play together at Manchester City for three years, winning the 2011-12 premier league title and an FA Cup. They were separated in 2013, when Kolo moved to Liverpool on a free transfer.
