Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup tie against Hull City, manager Arsene Wenger revealed that Danny Welbeck could start the game alongside Mohamed Elneny and Laurent Koscielny.
The French defender is expected to be available for the fifth round FA Cup tie alongside Danny Welbeck who scored a late winner against Leicester City following his return from injury.
Koscielny In, Gabriel Out
As reported by the club website, Wenger revealed that Koscielny is scheduled to make a full return against Hull City while defender Gabriel continues his recovery.
“Koscielny will be available. He has a test today but it will be positive.
“He [Gabriel] is out for Saturday. I believe one more week. He started running yesterday but one more week [is needed].”
Wenger also hinted that he could give Welbeck a start against Hull City while promising to field a ‘strong team’ in the FA Cup tie. New recruit Mohamed Elneny too could start the game alongside the Englishman.
“I might start him [Welbeck]. I haven’t completely decided yet. It crosses my mind to start him.”
Apart from Gabriel, Jack Wilshere Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky remain unavailable for selection due to injury concerns.
Scheduled to face Barcelona and Manchester United next week, Arsene Wenger will look to rest some of his key players against Hull City in order to keep his squad fit for the business end of the season.
