Pochettino Will Reject Chelsea FC And Manchester United To Stay At Tottenham Hotspur, Claims Club Legend

High flying Tottenham Hotspur’s manager Mauricio Pochettino would stay at the club even if Manchester United and Chelsea FC who are both in the market for a new manager came calling, claimed club legend Gary Mabbutt .

Speaking on his confidence in Pochettino’s loyalty to the Spurs, Mabbutt was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “I am convinced Mauricio would turn down any advances from Manchester United or Chelsea.”

Spurs are currently second in the league table, with 11 games to go. Stating that the competitiveness of the squad is the main incentive for the manager to stay, Mabbutt added: “I’m sure he sees this squad of players and what is happening at Tottenham on and off the field and realises these are very exciting times for the club. Those people saying he might get tempted away, I would say to them when was the last time Totttenham had a very good chance of winning the title?

“Probably 50 years ago. We came third in the league during my time but this side now has that ability to do it, not just this year, but for years to come.”

Will Pochettino stay put?

With a young squad beginning to show it’s potential under the Argentine, these are indeed exciting times for the London outfit. However, with all due respect to Spurs, they will neither be able to match the money offered by Chelsea or United, nor offer the prestige and historical legacy that comes with clubs of such stature.

Pochettino has already once swapped St. Mary’s for White Hart Lane, and for Southampton also in one of the most fruitful periods in modern history. And with a clear lack of top quality managers in world football right now, Pochettino will be high on the wanted list of both the clubs for sure. It will take incredible loyalty from the manager to reject the two outfits, given how much more they both add to his curriculum vitae.
