Barcelona Team Update: Lionel Messi Back In The Fray As Luis Enrique Chases 30 Game Unbeaten Streak

Lionel Messi is expected to return to the squad just days after undergoing a minor surgerym as Barcelona host Celta Vigo at Camp Nou. Looking to extend his 29 game unbeaten streak at the club, Luis Enrique does not have any fresh injury concerns ahead of the fixture.

Speaking before the match, Luis Enrique revealed that Messi was ‘in perfect shape’ following his surgery to remove kidney stones on Tuesday. However, it remains to be seen if he will start the Argentine or bring him on later depending upon the situation at hand.

Adra Turan is also expected to return to the squad after suffering a foot injury due to which he missed the Copa del Rey clash against Valencia.

As reported by ESPN, Luis Enrique revealed that both Lionel Messi and Arda Turan are fit ahead of their La Liga fixture.

“They’re both okay. Arda took a knock, which was a knock-on from his warm-up against Valencia, so there was no point taking risks over it [on Wednesday].

“But they’re both okay.”

A win against Celta Vigo would give Barcelona a 4 point lead over arch rivals Real Madrid even though they have a game in hand. A win or a draw would also extend Luis Enrique’s unbeaten streak to 30 games at Barcelona. However, such records don’t amount to anything, as demonstrated by Real Madrid last season,  if the team fails to win any silverware at the end of the season.
