It was being reported that Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan had offered the midfielder a 100 million euro deal, to be paid in the course of five years. His agent has recently come out to dismiss these claims.
Barcelona’s Turkish recruit from Atletico Madrid was the latest in the long line of players linked with a move to China, with another gargantuan amount of money on offer. However, his agent has recently come out to issue a statement on the situation and says that Turan is not going anywhere.
‘It is not true that Arda has received this offer’, said Turan’s representative Bullut Ahmed, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
Ahmed went a step further and added, ‘Neither is Arda looking for a move in the summer [transfer window],”
China on the prowl
Turan agreed on a 34 million euro move to the Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid in 2015 during the summer transfer window, but debuted only earlier this year because of Barcelona’s then transfer ban. He is 29 years old, in the prime of his playing career, and has long expressed his heartfelt desire to play for the Catalan giants.
Although it is improbable that a move to the East could happen, the Chinese Super League teams have made a habit of making the improbable possible this transfer window. They have picked up players like Gervinho, Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Fredy Guarin for a combined price of over 100 million Euros in transfer fees.
Although Barcelona is one of the clubs that seem to be too big for the Chinese to raid, with the kind of money they have to offer, anything is possible even if it seems highly improbable.
