Luis Enrique equalled Pep Guardiola’s record of 28 unbeaten matches as the manager of FC Barcelona after his side scraped past bottom club Levante at the Estadi Ciutat de València in the early kick off on Sunday.
An own goal from David Navarro and a late second from Luis Suarez clinched all 3 points for the Blaugrana in Luis Enrique’s 100th match in charge of the club. Despite their 2 goal margin of victory, Barcelona were a pale shadow of their fluent best as they struggled to breach a well drilled Levante backline.
The win against Levante saw the Catalans maintain their 3 point lead over Atletico Madrid with a further match in hand against Sporting Gijon still to come. The win also marked a personal triumph for Barcelona manager Luis Enrique as he equalled Pep Guardiola’s record of 28 unbeaten matches in all competitions with the club back in 2010-11.
Twitteratti came out in full force to laud the spectacular achievement of Barcelona’s Asturian manager. Here are the best tweets.
