Chelsea FC prepare to lure Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri with four-year deal worth £5.3 million per season

Chelsea FC have reportedly begun drafting a 4-year contract for Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri in a bid to lure the Italian to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Blues parted ways with legendary manager José Mourinho in December, and with an interim manager in Guus Hiddink appointed till the end of the season, Chelsea FC will have to look for a new manager in the summer. The process — as with any top club and top manager — has probably already begun, and names such as Diego Simeone, Antonio  Conte, Massimiliano Allegri and even Mark Hughes have been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch in the recent past.

However, it appears Roman Abramovich and the board may have narrowed down on the Juventus boss, with a four-year deal worth £5.3 million per season being drafted for Allegri according to calciomercato.com (via Daily Express). The report claims the 48-year-old is keen to experience the Premier League, and that he is learning English to prepare for any eventualities.

Manchester City’s announcement of the capture of Pep Guardiola has only served to increase the pressure on Chelsea FC and Manchester United in terms of getting their next managerial appointment right, and the Blues may feel an Italian manager is the way to go once again, given the success of the likes of Roberto Di Matteo and Carlo Ancelotti in the recent past.

Allegri could well be a leading candidate

Two Italian managers have featured heavily in the back pages when the Blues’ next targets have been discussed, and it looks increasingly likely that one of them will take over at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2016. Italy coach Antonio Conte and Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri have both yet to make their mark in a country other than Italy, but that could well change in the coming months.

Allegri’s contract expires in 2017, but Juventus have arguably already peaked under the former AC Milan manager, winning the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia last season, while falling short in the Champions League final to treble winners FC Barcelona. Abramovich will be impressed by his recent successes, and it wouldn’t be surprising in the least if Allegri were in fact a leading candidate for the Chelsea FC hotseat.
