Arsene Wenger has expressed his frustration following a stalemate against the Saints at the Etihad Stadium. Even though Ozil, Giroud and Sanchez created some chances, they were rejected by Fraser Forester.
The Saints goalkeeper pulled a number of amazing saves, keeping the home team at bay from his goal post and Southampton FC afloat in the Premier league with a point to their name. The Gunners showcased a sharper second half, but to no avail.
“We came out with a 0-0, with the experience we have in our team, that’s disappointing. It’s frustrating because we put a lot of energy into a game like that. We created a lot of chances of top quality and couldn’t finish. It’s difficult to find a player in our team basically who had no chances today,” Arsene Wenger said at a post-match conference.
“We put the energy in, we create chances but at the end of the day, we come away with no goals. It’s very disappointing, ” he added.
Wenger and Ramsey on Fraser Forster
A frustrated Ramsey talking to the media after the match said, “He had a very good game. He pulled off some really good saves and we couldn’t beat him today. We have to move on now. We’re really disappointed and hopefully, now we can bounce back against Bournemouth and Leicester.”
Arsene Wenger did praise the Saints’ keeper but remained critical of his side. He said, “You expect their keeper to have a good game but I believe as well we had very poor finishing.”
Arsenal FC haven’t scored in their last three league games and will be hoping to change that following a goalless draw against Southampton FC. The Gunners also dropped a position on the league table, and now sit in the 4th spot, behind Tottenham Hotspurs due to goal difference.
