Arsenal FC legend Thierry Henry had some pretty harsh words for the Chelsea FC team that has been suffering from an unbelievably bad form this season, languishing well beneath their normal high standards.
In fact, the Frenchman has even said that if he himself had an offer from Chelsea FC on his plate as a top player right now, he would not take it. Henry further went on to explain that there is a lot of uncertainty around the Blues’ future currently, and most players would much rather wait till they see who their next manager is before making a move to West London.
“No top player is going to sign for Chelsea during the January window because they don’t know who the manager will be next season or if they will be playing in the Champions League,” wrote Henry in his column for The Sun.
However, Henry does believe that it is a completely different scenario with the managers who should relish the tough challenge that taking up a job at the West London club would entail.
“I don’t believe the club’s history of hiring and firing some of the best managers in the business is going to be a problem when Roman Abramovich makes his next appointment,” wrote Henry.
“Any ambitious manager would be crazy to turn down Chelsea. It’s a big club with a pretty big recent history. They have money and they have good players.”
‘Chelsea FC situation is completely the players’ fault’
The blues still find themselves in a soup even after firing Jose Mourinho and hiring Dutchman Guus Hiddink, and Henry thinks that this is proof enough that it is the players who are responsible for the downfall of the club in the space of just a few months.
“Clearly, the damage the team has suffered in recent months runs far deeper than anyone realised. And now that they don’t have the manager or the doctor to blame, it’s clearly the players who are responsible for this mess,” he wrote.
While Chelsea FC’s win against Arsenal FC would have given the Blues a huge boost, with a Champions League Round of 16 tie coming up against PSG, it is yet to be seen whether they have truly recovered from their impasse. Although they managed to get the win against the Gunners, it was only after Arsenal FC went one man down after the sending off of Per Mertesacker that Chelsea FC displayed some decent football.
