After FA Cup Win Jurgen Klopp Says Liverpool’s Youngsters Impressed, But Have A Lot To Learn

Liverpool FC made short work of League Two side Exeter City in their rematch, after a draw in the first tie, to qualify for the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Goals from Joe Allen, Sheyi Ojo and Joao Teixeira helped the Reds overcome Exeter City 3-0 to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup. They will be coming up against West Ham United, who have defeated them in both their league encounters this season.

The feeling at the Liverpool camp after the match was one of excitement, as their young players showed their ability in the cup tie. Manager Jurgen Klopp was pleased with their efforts, but maintained that they had a long way to go.

“They [young players] showed nearly everything, they showed what they are able to do and showed what they have to learn.”, he said after the match, according to The Express.

“It is about giving the lads time to develop, not protecting. They did a few things impressive but a lot of things to learn… The target at the end of the road for them is Liverpool FC in the Premier League and for this you have to be ready in all parts of development.”

Potential Anfield great

18-year-old English winger Sheyi Ojo, who scored the second goal for the Reds in the match, became the youngest goalscorer of all time for the Liverpool senior team. The youngster signed with the club in 2011 and made his first appearance in the first FA Cup tie with Exeter that ended 2-2, albeit off the bench.

Klopp seemed impressed with Ojo, saying that, “Everyone can see the big skills and see what he has to work on. He made a goal, it was not too bad.”
