Romelu Lukaku is in the form of his life right now, and although many clubs (including Manchester United) are interested in him, Everton have set an exceedingly high price on the Belgian’s head.
Lukaku is currently the joint top scorer of the Premeir League along with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy with 15 goals, and seems to be finally reaching his full potential this season.
However, the Belgian has been one of the key players for Everton this season, and it does not seem that the Toffees would be willing to let one of their best players go cheaply, In fact, they have told Manchester United that they need to cough up £65 million in order to land the striker, according to The Sun.
Red Devils must reach deep into their pockets
While Lukaku’s current market value is at £21.5 million (according to Transfermarkt), his recent exploits in the Premier League means that the Belgian’s price would be skyrocketing out of proportions. It seems that Everton are trying to use this to either keep the striker at the club, or to sell him at around three times his market value, by asking for £65 million for him. At any rate, it looks like the Red Devils would have to pay through their nose for Lukaku’s services.
Money may be an issue
After having paid a huge amount for French forward Anthony Martial, it would be interesting to see how much Manchester United are ready to pay for the services of Lukaku.
Reports have suggested that they could have to pay £59.7 million for Martial, and this is something that could dissuade the Red Devils from making an all-out attempt to sign the former Chelsea FC striker. However, selling off a few under-performing players to raise money for Lukaku cannot be ruled out.
