Sam Allardyce Says That Tottenham Don’t Have What It Takes To Win The League, Ahead Of Clash With Sunderland

Sunderland manager ‘big’ Sam Allardyce is one of the most experienced managers in the Premier League, and he is claimed that is the precise quality that Tottenham Hotspur are lacking in their title challenge.

Allardyce stated that though the Spurs can finish in the top 4, winning the league might be beyond them and cited the example of former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

“Brendan Rodgers couldn’t hold his nerve with Liverpool to win the title a couple of years ago,” he said, according to fourfourtwo.com. “When they needed to be resilient, or hold on to the result they’ve got, they didn’t quite do it and that can be that lack of experience which you need in order to win a title.”

Big Sam also mentioned a few words of wisdom from the legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Listening to my old mentor, Sir Alex Ferguson, the hardest one to win for your players is always the first one and particularly when your players are as young as Tottenham’s.”

Good to see the underdogs on top

The Sunderland manager also said that he would be as pleased as anyone if underdogs like Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur manage to gun for the title, or even finish in the top four.

“It would be great if Leicester and Tottenham finish in the top four. When you think about what Leicester have achieved and what they have achieved this week against Spurs, I don’t think you can write them off either.

“Because Chelsea have slipped up big style this year, it’s a perfect opportunity for a Tottenham or a Leicester or for whoever else is in and around that area.”, he added.
