Wayne Rooney finally managed to put in a noteworthy performance for the Red Devils this season, as he scored two goals and assisted one in the thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Wayne Rooney may not be having the best season of his career, but when he hits his stride even opposition players are forced to recognise the England forward’s greatness.
This was the case during Manchester United’s match against Newcastle United, after which the Magpies’ Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who had also scored in the match, was full of praise for Rooney.
“They are crazy,” said Mitrovic. “They are people who don’t watch football.” [via:fourfourtwo.com]
“If he doesn’t score in a few games, then the team don’t play well and he cannot play well… You can see on the pitch the way he plays during the whole game, how easily he plays. I think he can play for 10 years more.”

The 21-year-old admitted that it was an honour to play against him, saying that it was his dream to one day become as good as the Englishman. This was the Serbian’s second time playing against Rooney, since he joined the Magpies just this season, and he even made it a point to get his shirt after the game.
“He is a legend and he has scored so many goals. For me it is always nice and I’m very proud to have the chance to play against him. You can see on the pitch how easily he moves. He is a very good player. I hope maybe one day I can be like Wayne Rooney. Maybe then some young players will be proud to play against me. That would be amazing”, Mitrovic added.
