Liverpool FC have confirmed that they have signed Steven Caulker on loan from QPR, in a bid to deal with the severe injury crisis that they have been facing for some time now.
Caulker has been on loan at Southampton FC for the first half of the season, but was not getting much action on the pitch, with Saints manager Ronald Koeman preferring the Jose Fonte-Virjil van Djik combination in his defence.

Liverpool on the other hand, are in dire need of a defender, as three of their four centre-backs are currently injured, with Kolo Toure being the only one who is fit to play. With Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren ruled out due to hamstring injuries, and Mamadou Sakho doubtful due to a knee issue, manager Jurgen Klopp has some real problems in defence ahead of the Arsenal FC game on Wednesday.
Caulker available for Arsenal game
The Reds confirmed on their official website that they have taken ample precautions in the loan deal so that Caulker is available to take part in the game against Arsenal FC on Wednesday. Sakho is believed to be recovering fast from his knee injury, and could face a late fitness test to ascertain whether he can take part in the match.
Klopp also has the inexperienced option of Tiago Illori, whose loan spell at Aston Villa was a complete failure. However, the German has been known to give unproven talents their fair share of time on the pitch, and it would be interesting to see who lines up beside Toure in the Liverpool FC defence.
