Plenty of exciting business is done every year in the January transfer window. Some teams try to bring in reinforcements to save their season, others look to provide the cutting edge to their already prolific sides.
Here, we take a look at three potential signatures that the top clubs will be looking to secure.
United to miss out on Pato
Manchester United will reportedly miss out on signing Alexandre Pato this January, with bitter rivals Liverpool set to sign the Brazilian. Pato, 26, has been on loan to Sao Paolo from the Corinthians this season.
Pato has admitted he is keen on a move to England and the Corinthians have been looking to offload the former AC Milan man due to his high wages. Liverpool are reportedly looking to put an 11 million deal on the table for Pato.
Zidane warns Man United
Zinedine Zidane, the new head coach of Real Madrid, has immediately sent a clear message to Manchester United, saying that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is non-transferable. He’s the soul of this team. While he’s here, he won’t leave,” Zidane said, as reported by Manchester United evening news.
“Cristiano will play on the wings, how he’s most comfortable. I won’t tell him much. I want him to be happy.”
John Stones to Real Madrid?
Rafael Benitez suggested during his reign at the Bernabeu that John Stones is one of the best talents in the world, and hinted at making an offer to Everton for the young Englishman.
However, Real Madrid are still interested in Stones, but with Benitez gone, a move is unlikely to fructify this January.
