It looks like Manchester United aren’t looking at Germany and Spain to recruit their next big player and could raid one of their own Premier League rivals for one of the biggest talents in the world today.
24-year-old Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard, who recently beat Ronaldo to become the 3rd most valued player in the world, has apparently attracted the interest of Manchester United. It is being reported that the Red Devils could make a bid for the Chelsea FC player during the summer transfer window.
Hazard has appeared discontent at Stamford Bridge this season. With the side struggling in the bottom half of the table and the anger directed at him by the fans, he could well be enticed to make a move to another club
Bale, Ronaldo Alternative
Although Manchester United have their sights set on prodigal son Cristiano Ronaldo and Welshman Gareth Bale, it is believed that the club is now considering the difficulty of convincing Real Madrid to part with either of those players and are looking at Eden Hazard as a possible alternative.
A source close to Manchester United said: “The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation. Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again.” [via: The Daily Star]
A Big Money Move
It is believed that Manchester United are lining up a 65 million pound bid for Hazard, which would make it the most expensive transfer in Premier League history.
The record is currently held by another Manchester United purchase, Angel di Maria from Real Madrid, but the Red Devils’ fans will hope that this doesn’t turn out to be as bad a move as the Di Maria transfer was. The Argentine was sold to PSG after one ambiguous season at Old Trafford.
