Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi is reportedly set to hold talks with Chelsea FC next week regarding a possible transfer, with Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus also interested
The Argentine international has seen his game-time reduced since the arrival of compatriot Ángel Di María, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, a move away from Paris Saint-Germain looks to be in the offing.
Lavezzi has made just 3 Ligue 1 starts this season, with the three attacking positions in Laurent Blanc’s 4-3-3 usually occupied by Zlatan Ibrahimović, former Napoli teammate Edinson Cavani, and former Manchester United and Real Madrid winger Di María.
According to Italian TV channel Premium Sport (via football-italia.net), the PSG winger is set for talks with Premier League giants Chelsea FC next Thursday, with Serie A title hopefuls Inter Milan and Juventus also reportedly interested in the Argentine.
The report claims that the Blues are interested in a January transfer at a reduced price, while Juventus are more likely to make a move for Lavezzi in the summer.
Chelsea FC need to steer clear of Lavezzi
The Argentina international is one of the last players Chelsea FC need at this point in time. Their attacking midfield options already boast the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Pedro and Kenedy, while academy graduates Jeremie Boga and Charly Musonda could have a future in attacking midfield over the next couple of seasons.
Signing a 30-year-old who is arguably past his peak — and who would demand considerable wages — makes no sense from Chelsea FC’s point of view. Particularly not in January, in a season which is unlikely to give any significant returns as far as the Premier League is concerned. If the club do decide to move for an attacking midfielder, Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira — whom they have been heavily linked to in the past week — would be a much better choice.
