Manchester United Confirmed Lineup vs Barcelona: Rashford fit to start; Fred, McTominay in midfield

Marcus Rashford is back into the starting lineup for Manchester United for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Barcelona.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought Marcus Rashford back into the starting XI, for his team’s Champions League contest against Barcelona. The England international had missed the Red Devils’ last game against Wolves with an ankle problem, but has been passed fit to feature on Wednesday night.

The academy graduate should occupy the left flank in Manchester United’s 4-3-3, with Romelu Lukaku getting the nod as the striker, while Diogo Dalot features from the kick-off on the right side to provide additional protection on the flank. Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are named among the substitutes.

Manchester United’s midfield sees some major tweaks as Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are both absent from the squad with injuries. Academy graduate Scott McTominay starts in the holding midfield role, while Fred also gets a start. Paul Pogba completes the three-man midfield for the home team.

There are no changes at the back, with David de Gea continuing goal, shielded by a back-four of Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.

Gerard Pique starts for Barcelona on his return to Old Trafford, but Ousmane Dembele doesn’t make the starting XI, having only recovered from an injury.
