Leicester City responded to Claudio Ranieri’s sacking in emphatic fashion as the Premier League champions beat visiting Liverpool 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
Jamie Vardy netted a brace while Philippe Coutinho pegged back a goal for Liverpool in the dying stages of the match. But the highlight of the encounter was Leicester’s second goal, as Danny Drinkwater unleashed a screamer of a volley from long range to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.
The thunderous volley doubled Leicester’s lead in the first half, and was Drinkwater’s first since scoring in the Foxes’ final Premier League game in the triumphant 2015/16 campaign.
