Roberto Firmino roared back to form with a brace against Swansea City, but he couldn’t prevent a Liverpool loss as the hosts went down 3-2 to the Swans on Saturday.
Liverpool hosted Swansea City at Anfield on Saturday looking to close the gap on Chelsea, but as the full-time whistle blew they looked to have lost all the momentum in the Premier League title race as the relegation battlers beat the Reds 3-2.
Swansea frustrated their hosts in the first half as Paul Clement set his side up in an organised manner to deny Liverpool even a sniff at their goal. The Swans then blew the hosts away at the start of the second half as Fernando Llorente grabbed a brace to put them 2-0 ahead.
Liverpool weren’t going down easily and they fought back to level things up, as Roberto Firmino struck a brace midway through the second half to put the match in balance.
However, Liverpool were dealt a heavy blow in the title race as Gylfi Sigurdsson struck with just over fifteen minutes to go to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and Liverpool in a Top 4 battle instead of challenging for the league.
