Memphis Depay scored a brace on international duty to catapult Netherlands to a 3-1 win over hosts Luxembourg in the European Qualifiers for the FIFA 2018 World Cup.
The Manchester United winger ended a drought that ran for over two years as he slotted home a header from inside the box after being found by a wonderful early cross by club teammate Daley Blind, who was the captain on the night.
While the first was a routine header, the former PSV man’s second goal was almost reminiscent of his former explosive self. Depay lined up a free-kick from some way outside the box and swirled the ball above the Luxembourg wall into the corner of the net with the keeper unable to stop the attempt.
