Man United lost to crosstown rivals Manchester City 2-1, and fans were left questioning the whereabouts of the world’s most expensive footballer Paul Pogba.
This was Pogba’s first high profile game for the Red Devils since joining from Juventus this summer. However the 23-year-old Frenchman didn’t have much of an impact on the game, and fans on Twitter were questioning where he was throughout the game.
Carragher ripped Pogba apart in his analysis. Said he has no positional awareness or tactical understanding. Hard to argue based on today.

Questions have to be asked of the midfield pairing. Pogba was a passenger throughout, De Bruyne had far too much freedom #FullTimeFrancis

Pogba should’ve replaced Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Porter .. Was just busy using invisibility cloak

I may forgive any other player today but not Paul Pogba, the dude was shambolic

However many Manchester United fans attributed Pogba’s poor performance to his positioning in the 4-2-3-1 system. The Frenchman played a more advanced role for Juventus, but has been paired with another attacking minded player in Fellaini in a defensive role at United.
Perhaps a change in tactics could help bring out the best in the French midfielder.
Stand to be corrected, but Pogba never played as a holding two at Juve. Then did so, poorly, with France. Should be further forward.

The only attribute Pogba doesn’t have is tactical versatility. You either give him a free role in a 3 man midfield or don’t play him at all.

Pogba cannot keep playing this role, if we want to see the best of him. Let him get further up the field…

how many big matches does Pogba have to go anonymous for managers to stop playing him as a holding midfielder.

We won’t see the best of Pogba unless he’s played higher up rather than holding in midfield. 4-3-3 ahead of the 2 preferably.

I think Rooney is holding back United, Pogba should be the attacking mid
