Manchester United U-18 player Indy Boonen provided an assist to Nishan Burkart for their opening goal in a 5-1 win over Everton.
Every player that showcases some skill now and then is compared to the footballing greats but Belgian youngster Indy Boonen’s comparisons with Ryan Giggs do hold some ground.
The player dons the same jersey the Welsh legend did, albeit for the U-18s currently. On Saturday morning in the match against Everton U-18s, the 17-year-old provided a sublime assist to new academy recruit Nishan Burkat.
The player dribbled past several players into the box but saw his flash shot saved by the keeper. Boonen then grabbed the rebound and back-heeled past a player into the six-yard box and slid it past the marching goalkeeper to put it on a plate for Burkart to score into an empty net.

Boonen’s assist was so reminiscent of the style of play seen way back in 1991 by another United academy product, the legendary Ryan Giggs. If the 17-year-old keeps on showcasing his skills in such an enamored way, the Belgian could just become the next player to don the famous No.7 jersey for United in the senior squad in the future, like compatriot Adnan Januzaj.
