In the most exciting game of the weekend, Liverpool and Arsenal dished out a seven-goal thriller that saw Jurgen Klopp’s Reds’ emerge victorious over Arsene Wenger’s Gunners.

Liverpool and Arsenal games have never been short on goals in the past, with the last 8 games between these two sides dishing out 30 goals. Sunday was no different as the sides played out an entertaining and adrenaline-pumped 4-3 thriller, with the Reds’ emerging victorious over the Gunners’ at the Emirates for only the second time in their last 20 visits.

Jurgen Klopp’s side did not start out too well as his side conceded a penalty in the 27th minute after a poor tackle from much-maligned Spaniard, Alberto Moreno. Simon Mignolet did save the ensuing penalty from Walcott, only for the England international to make amends 69 seconds later to give Arsenal the lead on the evening. Fans did not mince words as they ripped into Moreno for his horrific defending and lack of positional awareness that eventually led to the goal.

Just when it looked like the Gunners were heading into half-time with their noses ahead, Coutinho equalized with a sensational free-kick to beat Petr Cech and level the scores for the Reds.

The second half, however, saw Klopp’s ‘heavy metal football’ in full swing as Liverpool demolished the Gunners in the space of 17 minutes to go 4-1 up. Lallana, Coutinho and Mane chipped in to help the Reds take the game by the scruff of the neck.

However, the substitutions of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla did bring in some much needed creativity and pace to their attacking endeavours. It almost paid off for Arsenal as the Gunners pulled it back by two more goals to make it 4-3. Chamberlain and Chambers scored the goals as Wenger’s side came in with a chance to nick a point, or even more, from the game with 15 minutes still left to play.
