Cristiano Ronaldo had a chance to win the game for his nation in a tense Group F encounter but failed to convert from the spot as he scuffed the penalty. Things went from bad to worse for the Real Madrid man as his headed attempt that crept into the back of the net, was eventually disallowed.
Portugal have made a dismal start to Euro 2016, failing to win any of the two games played. In Saturday’s Group F battle against a ferocious Austrian outfit, Fernando Santos’ men failed to take charge of proceedings and were outplayed by their opposition during most part of the game. Captain Ronaldo had not one, but two chances to ensure three points for his side, but failed to capitalize on the opportunities that fell his way. The first of them was a penalty, while the other, a disallowed headed goal from a set-piece.
Even the greatest among us are fallible.

The fans undoubtedly had some not so pleasant things to say about the iconic attacker:
I reckon I could have scored one, from 36 free kicks & a penalty! ? #Ronaldo

This gets even better. #ronaldo a mile offside when he heads in. Now everyone is laughing. Another one for Iceland’s honour.

Bit harsh for #Ronaldo… he must feel miserable. I hope he doesn’t cry… that would ruin his make-up. #PORAUT

Unless he’s scoring or his team is winning #Ronaldo acts like a spoilt brat. Complaining, annoyed by teammates, influencing refs #EURO2016

Update….Ronaldo: no goals from 36 free kicks in major tournaments. Bale: 2 goals from 3 free kicks in major tournaments.
