Star players Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann have been left out of the France starting XI for the match against Albania, while Manchester United’s Anthony Martial gets his first start in the tournament.
Pogba, who has made a lot of headlines in Italy, winning the Serie A four years in a row with Juventus, had a poor game against Romania in the opening match of the tournament, and was subbed off early in the second half. Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who had helped his club reach the final of the Champions League last season, also failed to make an impact in the last match, and has been demoted to the bench.
Meanwhile, Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, who ended last season on good form, and Bayern Munich starlet Kingsley Coman have been picked to replace Pogba and Griezmann.
While Deschamps played a 4-3-3 formation last time round against Romania, the 47-year-old seems to have gone with the 4-2-3-1 this time round, shifting last match’s star performer Dimitri Payet to the no.10 role.
