Arguably the worst Italian side in recent memory, triumphed over Belgium’s golden generation last night, making Antonio Conte’s men strong favourites to win the group with nothing but grit, passion, hard work and sacrifice.
It was night Conte silenced all his critics by handing a footballing lesson to tournament favourites Belgium. Southampton’s Graziano Pelle and Bologna’s Emanuelle Giaccherini, both hailing from very modest club football backgrounds had the final word on Belgian superstars who play for the European elites. As was mentioned in a previous article on THT that the circumstances under which Italy came to this tournament have historically been found to be very conducive to Italy’s success in big tournaments. Lets look at some of the best tweets following Italy’s resounding victory over Belgium.
