Manchester United fans took to Twitter to express their anguish after Midtjyllan handed them a 2-1 away defeat in the first leg of Round of 32 of the Europa League.
Louis Van Gaal’s side flew to Denmark without their captain Wayne Rooney who picked up a knee injury in their last fixture against Sunderland. Matteo Darmian also joined the injury list in the same fixture with a shoulder injury.
In the warm-up session before the match, David De Gea picked up an injury, and Sergio Romero had to start in between the sticks although the Spanish goalkeeper had been named in the starting XI.
Following Saturday’s defeat at the Stadium of Light, the fans were looking for redemption in this mid-week Europa League clash but were disappointed by the result.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Manchester United’s defeat at MCH Arena.
Van Gaal doesn’t look like he can be bothered and the players don’t look like they can be bothered. Ridiculous he is still in charge. #mufc

This Man Utd team is an absolute shambles. Sure, 14 players out with injury. But they still started this game with eight internationals.

Midtjylland have beaten two of the PL’s top six this season. More than Man Utd or Man City have done.

New low for #MUFC today. Can’t help thinking that it wouldn’t have been this bad under David Moyes. Change has to be made ASAP. #United

The amount of resources LVG has had, he definitely is the worst MUFC manager of all time. Easily worse than Moyes himself.

Under LvG, Manchester United have been cursed with injuries. Unlucky or something to do with his training regime? Bit of both?

It’s hard to comprehend how poor Manchester United are at present.

Do LvG and Giggs perform telepathy with each other otherwise I’ve seen two rocks communicate better sat next to each other.
